Lunar Energy and Mood Forecast

Week Commencing June 15, 2020

It’s looking to be a pretty interesting week ahead when we look at the astrology- there is quite a lot going on! I should note that I am in the Southern Hemisphere so if you’re living in the Northern Hemisphere, the forecasts will apply for the day before for you in your time zone.

Waning Crescent Moon in Aries

The week begins with the moon in the waning crescent phase in fiery Aries where it moved into on Sunday afternoon, bringing with it a fun and upbeat vibe. Aries is the go-getter of the zodiac, and very action-oriented, so don’t be surprised if you feel the urge to have a boogie in the living room or need to go for a hot and sweaty run to get some of your energy out. Some uplifting oils that will help you to embrace this Aries vibe are Wild Orange, Bergamot and Ginger- that would be a pretty zingy combo in the diffuser.

Waning Crescent Moon in Taurus Conjunct Uranus

On Tuesday afternoon the moon will move into the sign of earthy Taurus. The moon and Uranus will also meet at this time, which is an astro-connection that should bring a very grounding energy. This will be nice to bring us back down to earth after the energising vibe of the previous few days. As the moon continues to wane, our energy levels will continue to recede and it’s a good time to wrap up your projects during this time. If you are wanting to have an energy boost to get you through those last things on your to-do list when energy is waning, try using Lemon Myrtle and Basil essential oils.

On Thursday the waning crescent moon shifts into communicative Gemini.  You might want to get social, but with the waning crescent moon, too much socialising might leave you feeling pretty drained even if it is fun.

Mercury Retrograde

Also on Thursday, Mercury goes retrograde for the second time this year, and this is where things get interesting. Mercury rules our minds and communication. So whilst the Gemini moon might stimulate our thinking powers, Mercury in retrograde calls on us to slow down our minds, declutter our thoughts and to integrate and see things from fresh perspectives. Check out this blog post for your Mercury Retrograde Self-Care Strategy. Try diffusing or mixing a blend of essential oils to support you emotionally and mentally over the coming weeks that Mercury is Rx. Grounding Clary Sage and Cedarwood, heart-opening Bergamot, relaxing Chamomile, and mental clarity inducing Cyprus and clear communication supporting Lemon and Neroli are all good choices to experiment with.

Waning Crescent Moon in Gemini

For Thursday and Friday when we have the moon in Gemini along with the start to Mercury retrograde, it would be wise to focus on your self-care pillar of relationships and explore the way you communicate with your loved ones. This will require having clear boundaries so that you get time to rest and relax too. Diffusing Tea Tree or the On Guard blend would be useful to support with this.

The Dark Moon

Things get even more interesting over the weekend. The dark moon is on Saturday and this is a good time to reflect on the lunar cycle that was. Get out your journal and assess how well you have nourished your self-care pillars. The dark moon calls for stillness and quiet and is the perfect time for going within, do some journalling, do meditation and to practice mindfulness as you think about what you would like to bring forth in the next Lunar cycle. Put a drop of Frankinsence on your third eye before you drop into this inward work to help you to tap into your intuition.

Cancer New Moon and Solar Eclipse

Sunday is a big day. It marks the start of the Cancer Sun Season with the new moon in Cancer which will occur at 4:41pm along with a solar eclipse. A solar, or annular, eclipse is what happens on a new moon and the moon passes in front of the sun, blocking the light except for a bright ring that lights the edges of the moon.

Solar eclipses are very significant events and this one particularly marks the start to a new beginning that is going to shape your future significantly. It will trigger new experiences ahead that will allow you to operate from a new way of thinking and being.  It offers a chance to open your heart and mind to manifesting all that you desire particularly when it comes to connections, the way we nurture others and also how we want to be nurtured, and how we want to feel emotionally. Expect to feel emotionally heightened at this time. Diffuse some Lavender Peace or roll Peace Touch on your wrists, neck and forehead to help ground and calm you on this energetically intense day

Some themes that may come up during the Cancer new moon are around family, the home and emotional healing.  Cancer is the nurturer and rules the moon, and the moon rules our emotions.

Work on your relationships during this lunar cycle. Do you have some childhood trauma or mother/father wounds that need healing? How can you balance your emotions and maintain a healthy work-life balance while also pursuing your dreams and desires?

Set your intentions for how you want to do, be, have and feel on the new moon, keeping these themes in mind. The new moon is all about new beginnings but this new moon is particularly potent with the eclipse and marks fresh starts and a change of season into the first day of winter.

Yep, Sunday is also the winter solstice (for us in the southern hemisphere- it will be summer solstice for those of you in the northern  hemisphere). This means that even though it is the start to winter, the days will start to grow longer as we move closer to the sun again. It’s a time to activate your dreams and desires, and to get creative about new paths and directions you desire to take.

With all of these significant events, you should definitely take time out on Sunday to rest, reflect and renew. If it’s possible to do a ritual to celebrate the solstice then you will find this helps to connect with your heart and heightened emotions.

Solstice Rituals

  • You could build an altar which contains material for each of the elements earth, air, water and fire.

  • Make some oil blends to help stimulate and awaken your systems, releasing the darkness that winter solstice represents. Choose 3 of these oils- Rosemary, Peppermint, Lemon, Ginger, Tra Tree and Cypress- and make them into a roller blend by putting 2-3 drops into a roller bottle and topping up with coconut oil then roll onto your solar plexus, heart and throat or even diffuse them.

  • Take time to rest and relax- yep, I am talking about an afternoon nap!- and if you can find a peaceful place in nature this will be even better.

  • Write down your plan and intentions and any fears you have around these which you can then burn as a solstice ritual.

  • Make a plan for how you will nurture yourself during the winter to practice impeccable self care in the dark and cool months ahead.

  • New moon mapping that you can do in your My Unstoppable Life Journal
