Week Commencing December 21, 2020
*all times and days are AEST
This week brings some very big energies- in addition to the Grand Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius conjunction, the Sun shifts into Capricorn, we also celebrate Solstice, and of course it’s Christmas when the Moon will be in Taurus, the sign that most loves indulging. No matter what you celebrate, share the kindness, love, goodwill and connection on this big holiday week. Let’s look more closely at what the Moon is doing and how that will affect our energy, mood and how we can best look after our self-care.
Waxing Crescent Moon in Pisces
To start with the Moon, Monday continues with the Waxing Crescent Moon in Pisces where it moved into later on Saturday. With Pisces ruling the feet this would be a good time to go get a pedicure, and to connect with the ocean or water if that’s possible, and if not then try doing some earthing. This is a good Moon sign for doing creative projects and taking time to do some journaling where you can visualise and to tap into your intuition. Use the essential oil Clary Sage- apply drops on the forehead and behind the ears- to help clear any creative blocks and enhance your ability to visualise on the possibilities and connect with your intuition.
Solstice (Mid-Summer/Mid-Winter)
Monday also marks the start to a new seasonal cycle with the Summer Solstice here in the Southern Hemisphere, marking the longest day, while it’s Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, bringing the shortest day of the year. It’s a time for celebration no matter where you are in the world.
Solstice is a time where the seasons are shifting and from a spiritual perspective it brings us a chance to make changes and rise up to our fullest potential and transform.
For those living Down Under, there are lots of ways to celebrate the Summer Solstice. Spend time in the Sun today and celebrate all its power and everything you have accomplished in this very difficult year. Dance, move and celebrate! Traditionally, during Solstice or Litha, it’s time to perform a fire ritual- make a safe fire, and meditate with the flames to visualise the highest version of yourself and use the fire energy to help you to tap into your intuition.
This is a wonderful time to do a tarot or oracle card spread and to rearrange your altar while tapping into the energy of the elements. Expand your energy and focus and enjoy this opportunity for growth and healing. Use the Sun energy to light your inner fire and focus on your passions and purpose. If you’re able to watch the sunrise or sunset then this is a wonderful time to do this and to set your intentions for the coming months ahead. My diffuser blend recommendation is to use Orange, Patchouli, Ylang-ylang and Peppermint or use a few drops of Elevation and inhale or apply to your root and sacral chakra points.
Grand Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius
Finally, tonight is when there will be the Grand conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius, which is the start to a whole new era for the human collective. This major astro event will affect all of us across all aspect of our lives, and really asks us to explore how it is that we show up in the world and contribute to society.
Expect big changes to start occurring and to continue to shift in a major way for the next 20 years with this meeting of these two outer planets. With serious Saturn highlighting challenges and jovial Jupiter focusing on rewards, this powerful conjunction will affect everything and everyone in big ways.
First Quarter Moon in Aries
On Tuesday , it’s the First Quarter Moon in fiery and go-getting Aries. The First Quarter phase is all about taking action, which is perfect for the energy of Aries. You may feel like starting on new projects which is good if they are short-term, and it’s great to revamp and re-evaluate your intention setting plans set on last week’s New Moon.
On the First Quarter Moon it’s good to reflect on how you have been feeling. Grab your journal and ask yourself- how are your energy levels? Are you still focussed and motivated on your New Moon intentions? Are you taking time to nourish yourself and practice self-care? Is life feeling balanced and if not, how can you improve this? A combination of Basil and Lemon can help to feel renewed and focused.
Void-of-course Moon
Thursday the Moon will be Void-of-course for most of the day from 8:51am until 10:56pm. This provides the perfect opportunity to chill. If you are feeling rundown and tired from all the festive season preparation, this is your chance to avoid doing too much on Thursday as it is only going to overwhelm you and make you feel more tired and emotionally confused. If you can get your Christmas shopping etc done before Thursday and kick-back instead then this will be a great move! Use Balance or Adaptiv essential oil blends on Thursday to help to ground and relax.
Waxing Gibbous Moon in Taurus
On Friday of course is Christmas Day! The Moon will be in laid-back Taurus all day which is ideal for the comfort-loving and indulgent Taurean Moon vibes. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, enjoy your comforts, slow down and nourish your body and soul to best harness the Moon energy. Christmas can be an intense time for some, so honour yourself and don’t be afraid to set clear boundaries if need-be. This is a great time to whip out your Holiday Joy blend and to connect with your loved ones and your own self-care needs.
Void-of-course Moon (and transition week!)
On Saturday the Moon is Void-of-course again from 9:32pm until 9:32am on Sunday. This whole week between Christmas and New Year can feel like a void week where time is lost and the days all meld together as one. Make the most of the more low-energy Void-of-course period to rest and relax after the Christmas festivities. Take a well-earned break from everything and enjoy this transition day in this very transitionary week.
Waxing Gibbous Moon in Gemini
Finally, on Sunday the Waxing Gibbous Moon will shift into quick-thinking and social Gemini. This will make it a good time for getting together with friends and family for some intellectual chats or fun games. It will give you a great chance to pursue mentally stimulating activities such as starting to map out your plans for 2021.
Grab your planner and think about what you want to achieve in the next 6 months, and in what ways you can balance all the different aspects of your life. What are your big projects that you want to commit to in 2021? How will you make these happen? Harness the Waxing Gibbous Moon now to keep momentum moving forward. Use positive affirmations or start thinking of your word for the year for 2021 to help guide you in the last week of the year. Add Lemon Myrtle, Rosemary and Lime to your diffuser for clarity of thought while staying engaged and positive.
